Piano Recital

The girls had their piano recital today.  Their piano teacher is so cute!  Her name is Yoshie Koga and she is in our ward.

London played "Landler in F major" and "Video Game Challenge" both by Alfred

Brooklin played "Seascape" by William L. Gillock and "Waltz in A minor" by Frederic Chopin

Piano Recital

The girls had their final piano recital yesterday afternoon.  I am so sad that we are going to be loosing Mei as a piano teacher (since we are moving).  She is a classically trained pianist from China.  She has only been living in the United States/Juneau for the past three years.  She is very strict and pushes the girls (sometimes to frustration and tears) but they have both improved SOOOO much in the past 21 months!  Both girls did an amazing job on their pieces and we are so proud of them for their accomplishments.

Piano Recital

Today was Brooklin and London's piano recital. The recital was supposed to be last Sunday, but we told the teacher we couldn't come, so she changed it for us! (Good thing too...four of her other students are also LDS, and may not have been able to come either). The girls did a great job. I am so impressed with how far they have come in the 9 months they have been taking lessons here. Their teacher (in the blue dress next to London) is a classically trained pianst from China, and has only lived in the United States for two or three years. She is very strict and it's hard to understand her sometimes, but they are learning so much from her. Her husband teaches Suzuki violin lessons and is an expert violinist. I'm not sure of the names of either of the songs the girls played...the titles were written in Chinese...but they did a really good job.

(she got lost once, but she had the whole song memorized, so I still think this is amazing!)

Brooklin's video

Piano Recital

Well, we had our piano recital last night. It was really fun. It was Brooklin's 3rd recital, London's 2nd, and my 1st. London played "I Am A Child of God" from the red Primary Partners book. She did a great job. She memorized her song as well. Here is the video of her playing.

Brooklin played a song from The Little Mermaid..."Part of Your World" by Alan Menkin. She also memorized her piece...which was over 4 minutes long! She did awesome. She said that the whole time she was playing, her fingers and legs were shaking a lot.

I played a song from the Disney version of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"..."God Help the Outcasts" by Alan Menkin. I didn't think I was going to be able to do it. My hands and legs were shaking so much, it felt like my body was experiencing an earthquake. I played it better than I ever have though. The video camera ran out of batteries just as I sat down at the piano, so we missed most of the first page of the song...so I had to preform it again for the camera at the house. I didn't do as well playing it at the house, but you get the general idea. We had a lot of fun, and I am glad I got to do it. It is a lot different than playing on occasion in Primary!

*** If the videos of Brooklin and I are not on here yet, it is because they were too long for the blogger way of posting them, and I am waiting for them to download on YouTube, so they will be on here shortly...so check back later.***
